A Domestic Electrical Installation for a Northampton Property
We were appointed to provide the electrical works as part of an extension at a property in Northampton.
Project Overview
Delivering a full electrical installation for a domestic kitchen extension.
This project involved a complete electrical installation for a large home extension at 25 Park Avenue North in Northampton. The works covered a new kitchen, utility room, dining area, TV area, and downstairs WC, as well as external supplies for future garden power connections.
ST Electrics provided a fully independent electrical setup for the new space, installing a separate consumer unit dedicated to the extension. This ensured the system operated safely and efficiently while allowing for easy maintenance and future expansion.
The Scope of the Work
- Full wiring and connection for all new circuits within the extension.
- Installation of a non-combustible consumer unit, compliant with the 18th Edition of BS7671.
- Integration of nine new circuits using PVC/PVC cable, covering kitchen, utility, heating, and lighting.
- Dedicated supplies for key areas such as the hob, ovens, island sockets, underfloor heating, and garden lighting.
- Type A RCBO protection on each circuit, safeguarding against both overcurrent and DC blinding.
- A new surge protection device to defend against incoming surges.
- Installation of new meter tails and earthing with 25mm² and 16mm² single-core double-insulated PVC cabling.
- Addition of a secondary smoke alarm on the first-floor landing for enhanced safety.
- Relocation of the existing heating circuit into the new consumer unit to integrate underfloor heating controls.
All work was carried out to the latest wiring standards with full testing, certification, and NICEIC approval.
