Brixworth Property Supply Separation
We were tasked with separating one single supply in to three separate supplies at a converted property in Brixworth.
Project Overview
A complex electrical supply separation.
ST Electrics were appointed to carry out a complex electrical infrastructure upgrade at a property in Brixworth that had been operating three separate businesses from a single shared electrical supply. This arrangement was not only inefficient but also posed limitations for safety testing, energy monitoring, and future development.
The project involved splitting the existing supply into three fully independent electrical feeds — one for each unit, including the on-site butcher’s and two adjoining premises — and ensuring full compliance with current wiring regulations.
The Works
The ST Electrics team coordinated with the National Grid to support the installation of new mains and service heads for each premises.
Our scope of works included:
- Installation of new three-phase switch fuses and external meter boxes, allowing each business to operate from its own dedicated, fused supply.
- New single-phase tails and armoured cabling run in protective PVC trunking to connect each new supply to existing internal distribution points.
- Testing and certification of all new mains connections, ensuring compliance with BS 7671:2018 (18th Edition).
- Provision of safe, clear isolation points for each new supply to simplify maintenance and emergency shut-off procedures.
- Internal wiring upgrades and checks to confirm that existing consumer units were safely integrated with the new feeds.
Each installation was completed with careful attention to accessibility, safety, and neat presentation, with all external enclosures securely mounted and weather-protected.
The Outcome
A Successful Supply Separation!
The project successfully transformed a single shared electrical supply into three compliant, independent systems – improving safety, energy accountability, and reliability for all tenants. Each unit now benefits from its own metered supply, giving business owners complete control over their energy usage.
As with all ST Electrics projects, the work was completed to NICEIC standards with full certification provided to the client on completion.
